Concord Community Schools is announcing a transition in the boys basketball program at Concord HIgh School. At the next School Board meeting, the administration will recommend the approval of Derrick DeShone as Concord High School Dean of Students, filling an administrative position soon to be vacated by the retirement of Denise Tahara. In this role, Mr. DeShone will work with attendance and discipline. Since joining Concord in 2018, Coach DeShone has reinvigorated our youth basketball program, improved the success of the program and recently led the Minutemen to a conference championship. Mr. DeShone and his wife, Allison DeShone, are committed members of the Concord community. Allison is a kindergarten teacher at Concord East Side Elementary School. We appreciate Mr. DeShone’s years of service to Concord basketball and look forward to his success in his next position. With this transition, we are beginning the search for a new head Boys Basketball coach to ensure a smooth process and strong leadership for our student athletes. The search for the next head Boys Basketball coach will soon begin, and we are committed to finding a leader who will build on the program’s strengths.

The Concord Boys Bowling team are the Semi State Champions!! They qualified as the #1 seed out of the last 16 teams from the north region and defend the #2 seed Highland in the finals, 396 to 365! Sophomore Drew Watts also finished 7th and is advancing to the state finals!

Reading Champions 2025 is open for submissions! Help us spread the word in your child's school! Starting next week, we’ll feature amazing student readers on social media and in Explore magazine. Congrats to our the Concord Boy's Bowling team as they brought home the Regional Championship trophy this weekend, defeating Warsaw in the finals! And a special shout out to Drew Watts who also came out on top as the Regional Champion! We are so proud of you all!

Last Friday, Concord High School hosted its annual Lifeskills Christmas Party! Students from multiple schools joined in the festivities, enjoying a day filled with holiday cheer and a special visit from Santa himself! Mrs. Allen’s sociology class embarked on an insightful field trip to Church Community Services (CCS) and Faith Mission Homeless Shelter. At CCS, the students explored various aspects of the organization, including a tour of the office, the Soup of Success classrooms, the Seed to Feed gardens, and the food pantry. During their visit to Faith Mission, they toured the facility, engaged in discussions with CEO Mike Perez about the shelter's programs, and helped serve meals to both residents and the community. It was an enriching day of learning and giving back! #WeareConcord #ConcordPride
