On Monday, our Director of English Language Learners, alongside the principal of Concord Junior High, proudly recognized both current and former Junior High students for their outstanding accomplishments in passing the WIDA exam during a special presentation to the school board. During this recognition, students shared heartfelt stories of their struggles and offered valuable advice to others learning a second language. On Tuesday afternoon, we officially kicked off the planning phase of the Next Generation SIG program with 32 dedicated community members and school staff. This group will help guide how we invest the $4.1 million grant to make a lasting impact at Concord, and we greatly appreciate their leadership! Mrs. Allen’s sociology class embarked on an insightful field trip to Church Community Services (CCS) and Faith Mission Homeless Shelter. At CCS, the students explored various aspects of the organization, including a tour of the office, the Soup of Success classrooms, the Seed to Feed gardens, and the food pantry. During their visit to Faith Mission, they toured the facility, engaged in discussions with CEO Mike Perez about the shelter's programs, and helped serve meals to both residents and the community. It was an enriching day of learning and giving back! #WeareConcord #ConcordPride

✨GOOD THINGS✨ A group of kindergarten Heggerty Heroes (led by teachers Colleen Molnar and Rhonda Williams) from Concord South Side Elementary attended last night's school board meeting and invited board members Tim Yoder, Tara Towner, and Mike Malooley to join them as they practiced their skills in rhyming, fluency, segmenting words, and adding/deleting/substituting letters to make new words. These lessons are part of the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness Curriculum that helps support students' early learning, strengthening the bridge between reading and literacy skills, and is aligned with the Science of Reading. These kindergarten students did an outstanding job modeling for our board members! #ConcordPride #WeAreConcord

Concord Ox Bow Elementary and Concord East Side Elementary hosted their annual Jog-A-Thon events today! This fun-filled annual activity helps raise money for the Concord Ox Bow PTO and Concord East Side PTO. Congratulations to Will Delio for his outstanding performance on the PSAT, National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test in 2023, as a Letter of Commendation recipient. Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition, using his PSAT scores from across the nation.
