Concord Junior High students and staff gathered Friday morning to celebrate as the 2022 Make A Wish fundraising efforts kicked off with a theme appropriate for the return of this much-anticipated event -- “Concord’s Back!”
To date, Concord has donated more than $430,000 to the Make A Wish Foundation and granted wishes to dozens of local children who have life-threatening medical conditions.
“Since 1995, Concord Junior High School has been granting wishes through fundraisers every other year (excluding 2021). No other junior high school -- or school in general -- in the nation has raised as much money or granted as many wishes as we have,” said Heather Brunswick, Concord Junior High teacher and one of three event organizers. “Our goal is to continue this tradition in an effort to grant wishes of local children this year.”
Today is National Read Across America Day!
At Concord, we believe that literacy skills shape the future of our students. In addition, literacy is the foundation to lifelong learning that will be essential to all students as they succeed in a fast-changing world.
Parents, if you're looking for ways encourage your child to pick up a book, give "flashlight reading" a try. Turn off the lights and light up the page with a flashlight as you read together. #ConcordReadsTogether

The Indiana School Boards Association held its 4th annual ISBA State House Day at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott Hotel on Tuesday, Feb 15, and Concord School Board member Tim Yoder was among those in attendance.
The ISBA State House Day offers school board members the opportunity to receive an in-depth briefing from ISBA staff and key legislative leaders on the important education issues under consideration in the current session of the Indiana General Assembly. School board members in attendance receive timely information and valuable insight to effectively engage in grassroots advocacy.
The event opened with ISBA Executive Director Terry Spradlin and ISBA General Counsel Lisa Tanselle providing an update on the status of bills affecting the education community. Other activities included: A panel discussion with the leaders of the four legislative caucuses, a Q&A session with chairs and ranking minority members of the House and Senate education committees, lunch with legislators and one-on-one meetings with local lawmakers.
