Meet the School Board: Tim Koontz

Tim Koontz is a proud graduate of Concord Community Schools, having attended Ox Bow Elementary, Concord Junior High, and Concord High School, where he graduated in 2002. He earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education with a minor in coaching from Bluffton University in 2006 and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Ball State University in 2013.

“I believe all students can learn and that every student learns in different ways. Schools should meet students where they are and help every child succeed,” Koontz said.

Born and raised in Elkhart County, Koontz has deep roots in the Concord community. He and his wife, Sarah, have been married for 19 years and are proud parents to three children: Briana, a sophomore at Concord High School; Trevin, an 8th grader at Concord Junior High; and Kaden, a 5th grader at Concord Intermediate School.

Koontz is currently a sales director at Brinkley RV in Goshen. A former educator, he spent 13 years teaching and 18 years coaching high school football, including six years at Concord High School. He currently serves as the director of the Concord Football League, a local tackle league for 4th-6th graders, where he enjoys positively influencing young people.

“Concord does a great job of trying to do what is best for our students. We have teachers and staff that are caring and want to see our students succeed,” Koontz said. “We can continue to improve our facilities and programming to help address the needs of our diverse student population.”
